EPUBShelf v2.0.0 [A light novel manager][Linux, Windows, macOS]
EPUBShelf 2.0.0 [A light novel library manager]
Organise your EPUB library by series.
A desktop application for managing a large EPUB collection — automatic metadata extraction, cover art pulled from inside each book, reading progress tracking, and search. Built for people with more books than shelf space.
What's new in 2.0.0
Volume cover preview. Hover a volume thumbnail — or tab to it — and the
full-size cover floats above the list. The thumbnails are 42×63 px, too small to
tell one volume from another; this shows the real artwork without leaving the
page. Each cover keeps its own proportions, and Esc dismisses it.
Bandua Studio branding. New loading screen, and the About dialog was rebuilt with the studio identity, social profiles, and support links with copy-to-clipboard.

Linux (AppImage): chmod +x EPUBShelf-2.0.0.AppImage then run it.
Note on architecture: every build is 64-bit. The Linux builds are x86-64, the Windows builds are x64, and the macOS build is arm64 only — it will not run on an Intel Mac, and there is no Intel build.
⚠️ These builds are not code-signed
No code signing certificates are used — they cost more per year than this project will ever earn. The applications are safe, but your OS cannot verify that on its own, so both Windows and macOS will warn you on first launch.
This is normal for unsigned open-source software, and the warnings are one-time.
Windows — SmartScreen
On first launch Windows may show "Windows protected your PC" with an unknown publisher.
- Click "More info"
- Click "Run anyway"
Antivirus false positives are also more common with unsigned executables. The
portable EPUBShelf-2.0.0.exe is the simplest route — it needs no installer
and raises no installer-level warnings.
macOS — Gatekeeper
The .dmg is arm64 only and will not run on Intel Macs. The app is
unsigned and not notarized, so macOS blocks it with one of:
- "EPUBShelf cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified."
- "EPUBShelf is damaged and can't be opened." — misleading; the download is fine, Gatekeeper simply cannot verify it.
Fix, no Terminal:
- Drag the app to
/Applications - Right-click (or Control-click) the app → Open → Open again
On macOS 15 Sequoia and later: double-click once, then go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click "Open Anyway".
Fix, with Terminal — clears the quarantine flag:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/EPUBShelf.app"
Either way it is a one-time confirmation per install; afterwards it launches by double-click.
✅ Scanned by 60+ antivirus engines — nothing found
Every build in this torrent was submitted to VirusTotal and scanned by more than 60 engines. None of them flagged anything — zero malicious, zero suspicious:

agreed. Especially since lately there have been aholes uploading virus laden "movies" to Nyaa.
Virustotal scan added :) thanks for the heads up
It would be great if it could run on a headless device, like arr apps. This would enable users to monitor their reading progress from multiple devices on the local network or remotely via a VPN setup.
very cool man but I recommend including a virustotal link for the skeptics
